Gene's Baptism-Lake Reams June 17, 2013
Hey Family!
How
are you this week? I hope great! So this week has been great! Gene’s baptism
was on Saturday and can I just tell you that it was so awesome. Over 50 people
from the ward came to support him and everything just went very smoothly and
wonderfully, it was so cool. I was a bit nervous because when Gene got to the
church he was in a terrible mood and he was not happy. He was confused
about where his wife is right now, because in the Bible it says when you die
you go to Heaven or Hell and he was like you me that she is in some other
place. Does that mean that she is just floating around? I don't believe my wife
is just floating around, she was a good Christian woman her whole life I know
she is in Heaven. Well even though we already had the Plan of Salvation
lesson with him, he seemed to be confused on that part of it, which is crazy
because when we had that lesson we explained and taught very clearly and he
understood it so well, it wasn't until the week of his baptism that all of
these questions and misunderstanding came up, Satan really was working so hard
on Gene to upset him. So Sister Low and I and the Elders in our ward, Elder
Duffy and Elder Jensen, re-explain and taught the Plan of Salvation all
together and then said a prayer that Gene would feel comfort in knowing that
his wife is in a good place where she is happy. After the prayer he did feel
better and was ready for his baptism. The meeting went so well, a sister in our
ward Sister Hicks spoke on baptism and did a wonderful job and then a brother,
Brother Hanson (the one related to Travis Del Toro) spoke on the Holy Ghost,
they both did a very good job, the spirit was very strong when they spoke. Then
a woman from the ward Sister Mullen sang Amazing Grace, it's Genes favorite
song, and man can I tell you that first of all that is a beautiful song, and
secondly it brought the spirit into the room so much. Gene was just in tears
and so were half the other people in the room. It was incredible, after that of
course was the actual baptism, it was so cute when Gene came up out of the
water he looked at his grandson, the one who baptized him, David, he said, it's
done brother! with a big smile on his face. It was such a good baptism. Ha
crazy though Sister Low and I got to the church at 6:30am to fill the font
because it has problems holding the water without draining, and so all morning
we were watching it and it was filling up with freezing cold water, well as
"smart" as we are haha we decided to go to the kitchen and start
heating water up in the microwave and oven, to know little surprise that made
about a negative 2 percent difference, so the 4 of us (because the Elders came
to help us) all said a prayer together that the water would be warm and that we
did all we could to make it warm and it just wasn't working, well to no
surprise right after that we went and messed with the valves and guess what,
hot water started coming out and with the last 30 minutes we had to fill it
before people showed up, it completely warmed up; seriously a blessing. It was
cool too, we invited our new gator Ms. Shirley, to the baptism and she loved it
and thought it was so cool and said she could feel the spirit very strong. We
set a date with her last week to be baptized on July the 20th and she told us,
I'm ready for the waters girls. And it's so cute she is about 75 years old and
she is a little black woman, and at the baptism and church yesterday she was
going around introducing herself to everyone and making friends all on her own
and telling literally everyone, my baptism is next month on the 20th and that's
on my birthday, it's going to be the best birthday ever! Haha so so cute! Well
I hope you all had a happy fathers day! This video is one of my favorites; the
Mormon Messages are so awesome you guys should watch them. Well I love you all
and I will talk to you next week!

Lake Reams - June 3, 2013
Fam-oo-Rii !!!
Hello! Well this last week was quite a week! Many Many things
happening! It has been getting very hot here and it rains A LOT! Sister Low and
I are always either sweaty soaked or soaked from the rain, eeewww.. Well We had
some great lessons this week, Gene is still doing awesome and is so excited
about his baptism! He always asks us about it when we see him, he also has been
reading the Book of Mormon every single day! So cool right? It's way funny
because now when we go to see him instead of preaching things about the Bible
he preaches about the Book of Mormon! Hahahaha YES!!!! He will say things like
"Well, ya know in the Book of Mormon Nephi says you harken unto the word
of the Lord and he will tell you all that you need to do." Just stuff like
that it seriously is soo cool! we also are teaching a man right now named Joe,
he is really interested in our message and how it relates to the Bible, he is
so smart and knows the Bible better than anyone I know. When we were at his
house he always asks a lot of questions about what we believe and how does it
relate to the Bible and the Book of Mormon, he was getting into this topic
about adoption and the scattering of Israel and the separating of the Gentiles
and I was like hey you can read about that in Jacob 5! And he was like
"What?" and I was like ya, and I showed him and he was shocked haha
he is so awesome though, as we teach he takes pages and pages of notes and high
lights the Book of Mormon we gave him and he really gets excited to study this
stuff, so that is way way cool!! It was fun right when we got to Joe's he was
showing us this medical equipment he has made, because that's what he
does. And it was this helmet thing you put on and you turn it on and
you can see all the veins and bones in your hands, it's so trippy to
look through, Sister Low and I were playing with it and looking at one
another's faces and how creepy it looked haha it was fun though! And
the best part is....... we asked Joe as he prays and reads the Book of Mormon
and prays about our message, that if it is true would he be baptized and he
said "Yes, of course I would!" It was so cool! We set a date of July
20th with him and we are really hoping that it goes through! Then we also
have been teaching Anna, and she has been taught a lot by previous missionaries
that never really went anywhere with her, but there is something different
about us that she likes and she says she can feel the spirit from us, and so we
talked about the gospel with her, not really one of the lessons and we asked
her if she would take the steps of reading, praying, church, etc. to know if
this is true and if it is true if she would prepare for baptism on July 20th
and she said YES!!!!!!!! Seriously such a miracle! Sister Low and I have 3
people preparing for baptism and it is amazing. I have no doubt in my mind
about Gene's but I am really praying hard that Joe and Anna will take this
seriously and receive an answer so they too will be baptized! Ahah guess what
else, you will be so proud, so Anna has health issues and her hands hurt a lot
and she cannot use them very much. But she accidently ruined some nice
decorative towels and the fabric and tassels on them got ruined and so she
asked me if I knew how to sew and I said ya kinda haha and she was like well I
have extra fabric, do you think you could sew and fix these towels and pull the
tassels off the ruined material and sew them on the nice material and then on
the towel. And I said ya sure I will take a look at it, ha and I am actually
doing a pretty good job! Whoo!!! haha ok ok now you wanna here something
disgusting....... Ok so I have been sleeping terribly lately, like I don't even
sleep 20 minutes at night, I have terrible insomnia, but on Tuesday night I was
so overly tired that when I went to bed I was just out, haha well that night
Sister Low woke up in the middle of the night because she was cold and so
she woke up and fixed all her blankets to get warm and she heard a
squeak in her bed by her face, and sat up immediately. At first she
wasn't sure if she was just hearing things and then she heard another
squeak! and then she could feel something crawl across the bed and jump
off, while it was squeaking! EWWWWW she said she was about to scream but
because I was finally sleeping she didn't wanna wake me. Poor girl grabbed our
phone and started to look for the mouse or rat and couldn't see and sat up in
bed till morning. UGH!!!! SO NASTY RIGHT! We told the front office and they
sent someone to set traps. We washed all of our bedding and pulled our beds
away from the walls, we haven't seen another mouse or rat yet but we are so
freaked we can hardly go to bed. Eww yuck in was in her bed!!! UGH! Our beds
are on the floor so that doesn't help. Well nothing else too cool this week. We
had a ward party and we had lots of yummy desserts! And tonight is a ward BBQ
so we will be eating a lot of yummy things again, haha I am getting so fat. You
would think Im losing weight from biking, haha nope........ I am trying to be
healthier though. Sister Low and I got stormed on last night while tracting, it
was kind of nice because it was so hot, well I gotta go! Love you all!
